Blackberries sind sich bewusst: Die Welt ist geprägt von Krisen wie Krieg oder Klimawandel. Trotzdem verlieren sie dabei auf ihrem aktuellem „Vorwärts Rückwärts“ nicht die Hoffnung.
Die Solinger Psychedelic-Pop-Band möchte eigentlich gar nicht immer politische Musik machen. Durch persönliche Gespräche im Proberaum oder auf Tour findet sich nur doch schnell ein politischer Konsens. Mit Songs wie „After The War“ oder „The Moor“ kritisieren Blackberries dann so einiges an der Gesellschaft – geben sich am Ende mit den zarten Melodien von „A Life In Colour“ jedoch hoffnungsvoll.

Auf „Vorwärts Rückwärts“ zeigt das Quartett ihre Experimentierfreudigkeit mit ausufernden, meist krautigen Instrumental-Parts. Dabei verlieren sie jedoch nie den roten Faden und greifen vorangegangene Melodien oder Refrains immer wieder auf.
Im Albumtitel sowie in den beiden Titeltracks „Rückwärts“ und „Vorwärts“ nutzen Blackberries außerdem erstmals die deutsche Sprache. Auch in Zukunft können sie sich vorstellen, deutsche Songs zu veröffentlichen – einige Ideen hat Sänger Julian Müller dafür bereits parat. Festlegen werden sie sich da nur so schnell nicht, denn genau wie bei der Themenfindung legt die Band sich dafür auf keinen konkreten Plan fest. Stattdessen sollen sich Ideen, Texte und die Musik einfach ganz natürlich entwickeln.

Blackberries are a psychedelic four-piece from Western Germany. The band grew from the seeds of early Motown records, mid-60’s pop groups, mesmerizing Psychedelia and german-based Krautrock. Fusing these influences with their very own vision of musical expression, they create a unique vibrant energy which already won over audiences of bands like Miles Kane, Blues Pills, Okta Logue, Pond, Friska Viljor, Bilderbuch, Imagine Dragons or Bastille.
It's not easy to write an original and interesting band biography especially when the band hasn't been around for that long. The band have not yet had time for lawsuits, scandals, drug busts and a variety of other rock and roll cliches. So, we will have to stick to the facts...
The songs, all written by Julian in collaboration with friends and other band members, display a huge variety of influences. This variety of influences, however, have not prevented the band from developing their own unmistakeable style. The Beatles' willingness to experiment, the Hollies' craft at harmony and melody, the country rock of Ryan Adams and the raw wildness of the early Who have all been combined to forge their sound. With an eye to the masters of the past and of the present, The Blackberries are making music that is at once familiar and unlike anything you have heard before. You certainly won't hear anything else as original as The Blackberries playing on your radio.

Now, years of hard work and intense musical experimentation have passed, in which they not only redefined their frontiers in the development of new sounds, but also locked themselves into the studio to come out with even more pulsating and hypnotizing tunes. Like a magic carpet that floats between neo-psychedelic experiences, a passion for hooks and melody and the untamed aesthetics of early Kraut, Blackberries are heading to a new landmark in the continuing journey of constant reinvention.
